This newspaper reported from Beijing on September 6th: "In the process of comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society and accelerating the advancement of socialist modernization, Special Economic Zones should not only continue to operate, but also operate better." General Secretary Hu Jintao's important speech at the 30th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone has caused a strong response among cadres and the masses in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou, and Xiamen Special Economic Zones. Everyone unanimously stated that Special Economic Zones must adapt to the new situation and meet new expectations, continue to emancipate their minds, adhere to reform and opening up, and strive to be the vanguard in promoting scientific development and social harmony.
Mr. Zhang, a resident of the Houhai community in Shenzhen, said, "I have personally witnessed Shenzhen grow and prosper day by day. The changes in Shenzhen over 30 years have been earth-shattering. Hearing the General Secretary's affirmation and praise of Shenzhen, we feel excited, proud, and relieved. The people of the Special Zone have not let down the 'Special Zone' brand."

Shou Weichun, Chairman of Zhuhai Hansheng Technology Co., Ltd., an entrepreneur who has worked in the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone for 25 years, told reporters, "In 1985, I came to the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone from Shanghai, inspired by the Special Zone's policies. At that time, only more than 20 people were working hard. After 25 years of hard work, the company has now developed into the world's second and Asia's largest manufacturer of radio frequency cables and a high-tech enterprise, with complete ownership of its intellectual property rights."
