This newspaper reports that reporter Su Li reported: Amidst the music of nature, a pink gauze dress rotated in the air. The Hansheng Art Troupe, with its ingenious combination of dance and martial arts, outperformed art troupes from many countries on the night of the 25th in Malaysia, winning the top prize, the Chief Minister's Award, at the 6th Sabah International Folk Dance Festival. This is the first time a Chinese art troupe has won the top prize in this competition in recent years.
“For us, I feel the overall performance was nearly perfect.” The excited leader of the Hansheng Art Troupe told the reporter that her troupe members were wonderful on stage.
That night, in a dance called "Dragon's Rhyme," 20 young men and women on the stage in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah State, Malaysia, moved with steady and fast rhythms, interspersed with gentle Tai Chi elements, while the female dancers showcased their aerial rotation skills with remarkable skill.
The theme of the 6th Sabah International Folk Dance Festival was "Seeking Peace Through Culture." Many teams participated, including Russia, Belgium, South Korea, and India. The Hansheng Art Troupe represented China in its first participation. From the 17th to the 25th, the art troupe went through performances, preliminary rounds, and finals, winning the first championship for a Chinese art troupe in this competition.
Troupe members told reporters that Ouyang Huizhen Dance Society from Taiwan, which won the Chief Minister's Award last year with "Welcoming God Tune," was the Hansheng Art Troupe's biggest rival. To surpass their opponent, they trained intensively for months, spending four hours a day on basic skills and the remaining time on choreography and dance routines. Their final victory brought them to tears of joy.
This art troupe, dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese culture, will also be participating in competitions in Thailand and the Netherlands this year, showcasing Chinese dance art through their graceful movements.
The Hansheng Art Troupe is under the Zhuhai Hansheng Science and Technology Co., Ltd., and was established in early 1993. Currently, the troupe has grown from its original 8 members to over 30, all composed of outstanding graduates from top national art schools specializing in dance and vocal music.
Zhuo Bi Jia, the leader of the Hansheng Art Troupe, was one of the happiest people that night, holding the medal to her chest, smiling with tears in her eyes.
“When the host said ‘China,’ we were so excited, a feeling of pride from the heart,” said the 22-year-old Zhuo Jia, recalling the touching moment with excitement. “Everyone waved the national flag, everyone shouted.”
At that moment, the audience shouted in unison: “China No. 1!” A Belgian judge even grabbed the hands of the Hansheng Art Troupe members, saying, “Your dance is so beautiful, we love it.”
Zhuo Bi Jia said that as it was their first time participating in the Sabah International Folk Dance Festival, they lacked experience, and since no Chinese art troupe had ever won before, they didn't have high hopes, which made them feel more relaxed during the performance. Winning the championship was an indescribable feeling.
